The UWA Study Abroad Office would like to invite you to a seminar about Student Exchange & research opportunities at University Laval, Quebec, Canada. Dr. Richard Poulin will be presenting a short information session from 12.00 - 12.45pm on Monday 22nd March in Social Sciences Seminar Room, SSG210 to inform students about opportunities that exist for UWA students at Université Laval.

UWA Students can study at University Laval in both English and French, with Business and English Studies courses offered in English. There are also a wide range of units within Faculties of Business & Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences available in French.

University Laval was the first French speaking university established in North America, and is one of Canada’s top ten largest research universities. Its faculties include distinguished researchers recognized as international leaders in the fields of, to name but a few:

- Arctic Studies - Geomatics - Neurosciences - Obesity - Optics, photonics, and lasers - Classical Studies - Stage and Sound Technology

With its 235-odd research centres and groups, including 82 Canadian Research Chairs, and its 3 Canadian Networks of Centres of Excellence, University Laval’s hard-working researchers and their commitment to the scientific and social community are attracting an increasing number of graduate students.

Located in Quebec City, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, University Laval boasts a tradition of excellence in its academic programs and major breakthroughs in its research activities.

----------------------- Dr. Richard Poulin is professor of mineral economics and director of the International Office at University Laval in Quebec City. He holds a Ph.D. from McGill University and is Fellow of the CIM. He also has been professor of mineral economics at The University of British Columbia. He previously worked in mineral engineering consultancy for 12 years in Canada and overseas. His main research topics are mineral resource valuation by real options and risk associated with environmental bonding.
