Raine Lecture - Professor Greg Whyte : Anything is Possible: Exercise for Life Other events...
Professor Greg Whyte is one of British sport's foremost research scientists and internationally renowned for his work on the heart of athletes and performance enhancement and has worked as consultant physiologist to a large number of Olympic and professional sports. Prior to his appointment at Liverpool John Moores University, Professor Whyte was the Director of Science and Research at the English Institute of Sport (EIS) from 2004-2006, and the Director of Research for the British Olympic Association based at the Olympic Medical Institute from 2001-2004.

Recently, Professor Whyte turned his attention to work with non-athletes to achieve the seemingly impossible. Among his highly publicised successes Professor Whyte trained the comedian David Walliams to swim the English Channel, summit Kilimanjaro in 2009 on the Comic Relief Big Climb with 9 celebrities including Cheryl Cole, Chris Moyles and Gary Barlow, and train Eddie Izzard to complete an epic 43 Marathons in 51 days around the UK. In this talk Professor Whyte will reveal the secrets behind the success of these incredible adventures and demonstrate that ‘Anything is Possible: Exercise for Life’.
