"Truth is ever to be found in the simplicity, and not in the multiplicity and confusion of things." — Isaac Newton

Professor George Stewart, Dean of Life and Physical Science cordially invites you to visit Physics - the School that studies phenomena from the smallest sub-atomic particles, to the largest galaxies. Physics analyses nature and attempts to understand how the world works. It is one of the oldest and most influential sciences because its advances often translate into new technologies, and because new ideas in physics often resonate with the other disciplines, such as mathematics, engineering and biology. Quantum physics led directly to the development of new products which have dramatically transformed modern-day society such as television and computers. Advances in electromagnetism led to the development of MRI scanners and recent developments in its oldest discipline astronomy will soon let us look back to the dawn of time.

Our guest speaker, the Chief Scientist for Western Australia, Professor Lyn Beazley AO, will outline her vision for science education. You will have the opportunity to view some of our greatest achievements, and meet some of our brightest stars including West Australian Student of the Year, Jacinta Delhaize and Professor Peter Quinn who is spearheading a national project to attract the world’s largest science project to Western Australia. Then join us on the rooftop where you will be given the opportunity to inspect our array of telescopes while enjoying drinks, canapés and a spectacular view of Matilda Bay.
