Online peer assessment system for student teams : Guiding student team success using an online peer assessment system - Seminar and workshop Other events...
A/Prof Lydia Kavanagh (Director First Year Engineering, UQ) has been working on a process for ensuring student team success for the past 6 years. This seminar/ workshop will present an overview of her work which has included an ALTC funded project and which has been used for well over 5000 students. Although not a quick fix, the successful process includes purposeful team selection, team training, team mentoring, and both formative and summative peer assessment. Lydia intends to give an overview of the process in a seminar, and then demonstrate through a hands-on workshop the tools developed through the ALTC project: an online peer assessment system, and an online team training module. These tools are freely available to any academic who wishes to use them. She will also be available to talk to any interested academic on an individual basis after the workshop.

Times: 10-10.55am (Seminar) Overview of the PETS process, Room 1.05 School of Mechanical Engineering.

11-11.55am (Workshop) Hands-on using the tools, Computer Lab Room 1.11 School of Mechanical Engineering.

12pm Opportunity for individual or group discussion. Email [email protected] to arrange this.

If there is any particular issue that you have with student team work, you are invited to contact Lydia so that she can address it specifically during the session.
