UWA has started a new Master of Nursing Science course to enable graduates with a Bachelors
degree in any field to undertake two years of intensive full-time study
leading to eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse with the
Nurses and Midwives Board of WA.
The two-year course will include clinical placements at Sir Charles
Gairdner Hospital and other health agencies in WA, including a rural
placement. The course will be predominantly delivered through the UWA
School of Population Health in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and
Health Sciences and is offered in partnership with Sir Charles Gairdner
Hospital Department of Nursing.
The course is an important step towards providing additional
entry pathways into nursing and offers a career change for people who
are interested in nursing but who don't want to go back and do another
undergraduate degree. The course commenced in July this year with 25 students with backgrounds in a variety of fields including biological science, commerce, social work and
education, and included students who had only recently completed their
first degree and others with years of experience.
To learn more about this course, including an opportunity to meet some of our staff and current students, come to the School of Population Health’s information evening on Wednesday 21st October (RSVP encouraged by Tuesday 20th October to Fiona Maley 6488 1299) or visit www.sph.uwa.edu.au
