STARLIGHT - Celestial Visions On Second Life: Astro Gallery Launch : Simultaneous launch of UWA Art Gallery in both real & virtual worlds Other events...
During the International Year of Astronomy (2009), and coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the first manned moon landing, the University of Western Australia is proud to present “Starlight, Celestial Vision of Second Life” featuring the astronomical photography by local Perth astral photographer, John Goldsmith.

The exhibition features a permanent display in the foyer of the Physics building (UWA). However, the most unique thing about this is that for the first time ever, an art gallery is being launched simultaneously in both the real world and in the virtual world, as there will be a simultaneous launch in the “Second Life”, which is a 3D virtual world in which the UWA campus s being built.

“Starlight, Celestial Visions on Second Life” comprises two themed collections of astronomical photography:

SPACE presents deep space and celestial images, and

CELESTIAL LANDSCAPES shows astronomical events together with natural and cultural landscapes.

Please join us for a talk by John Goldsmith, followed by a demonstration and launch of the Second Life version of the galery by Jay Jay followed by morning tea. (pls RSVP for numbers)
