Professor Tanya Dalziell will be presenting a seminar 'On understanding Nick Cave'.

In this informal presentation, I will speak about the process of compiling an edited volume on the work of Australian musician and writer, Nick Cave. In particular, I will sketch out some cross-disciplinary dialogues regarding what it means to write on music (what is someone in the discipline of literature doing, presuming, to write on music, after all?), and popular music at that. As a means to unpacking some of these conversations, reference will be made to another project in which I am currently involved, which looks at modernist writers and their creative exploration of the interrelations between music and language.
