Professor Dieppeās research interests stem from his dual professions as a physician with an interest in rheumatology and as a health services researcher.Among many appointments he is currently the Chair of Clinical Education Research, Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry and Honorary Professor of Health Sciences, The University of Oxford.
His main research interests concern patient and professional interactions and the placebo response. This has led him to look into methodological issues such as trials of complex interventions and outcome measures for complementary and alternative remedies, as well as trying to understand what happens during a successful health care consultation.
