“Music hath charms to soothe the savage breast, / To soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.”
Congreve, The Mourning Bride, i, I.
What is the origin of the natural human impulse to be musical? Are we “hardwired” for music?
Can music enhance human health? How does music mediate human experience?
Dr Nicholas Bannan and Professor Jane Davidson will be joined by musicians from the School of Music to explain some aspects of humans' relationship with music.
