Olympiad: WA Junior Mathematics Olympiad

More than 200 of the State’s best young mathematicians from over 25 schools will decipher complex mathematical and statistical problems in the WA Junior Mathematics Olympiad to be held at the University of Western Australia.
Once again the WA Section of the Australian Mathematical Olympiads Committee is organising the WA Junior Mathematics Olympiad. The event will be held on Saturday, 31 October 2009 in the Ross Lecture Theatre in the Physics Building.
The goal of the competition is to identify the most gifted students in Mathematics. It is intended to be accessible to all bright Year 9 students and exceptional Year 8 students.
The Olympiad is to be a WA School Competition with teams of students competing for their school.
Team nominations, the names of accompanying teachers and the registration fee should be sent to arrive before Friday, 16 October 2009.
Our current sponsors for the major prizes are:
1)University of Western Australia School of Mathematics and Statistics Prize for the most outstanding year 9 student in the WAJO.
2)Curtin Department of Mathematics and Statistics Prize for the most outstanding year 8 student in the WAJO.
3)Mathematical Association of Western Australia "Jack Bana Award for Excellence" for the most outstanding Year 9 team in the WAJO.
4)Edith Cowan University School of Engineering and Mathematics Prize for the most outstanding Year 8 team in the WAJO.
5)Department of Education and Training Prize for the most outstanding individual performance of a student from a Government High School.
6)New Edition Bookshop Award of Excellence.
7)Data Analysis Australia Award of Excellence.
8)Murdoch University Award of Excellence.
There are also prizes for second and third best in each of the first four categories
