Rates of incarceration of Indigenous people in Western Australia remain a source of shame, and cannot be accounted for solely in terms of higher rates of offending. WA has the highest rate of Indigenous over-representation, but has been slower than other states in trialing initiatives that might genuinely empower Indigenous commmunities. Visiting Honorary Research Fellow, Crime Research Centre, Faculty of Law UWA, Dr Harry Blagg will speak on these issues tonight, Wednesday 22 April 2009, at 6pm in Alexancer Lecture Theatre.
