THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE AND WORLD PEACE : A UWA Extension Spring School Lecture Other events...
In their first shared visit to Perth, we are privileged to present: His Excellency Judge Christopher Weeramantry, former Vice President of the International Court of Justice, founder of the Weeramantry International Centre for Peace Education and Research, member World Future Council and recipient of the 2006 UNESCO Prize for Peace Education.

Dr Arthur Eyffinger, former librarian of the International Court of Justice, award winning historian of the international institutions in The Hague, founder of JUDICAP international law and peace studies research and publishing centre, and the world's leading authority on influential Dutch jurist Hugo Grotius.

Enjoy an illustrated introduction to the history of the court and take a brief look at the magnificent Peace Palace in The Hague, where the International Court of Justice sits.

How effective has the court been? Has it met the hopes that were held at its inception in 1945 under the Charter for the United Nations? How optimistic should we be about the future of the International Court of Justice? Hear the latest thinking from two eminent speakers.
