COURSE: FRENCH BEGINNERS 2

With an emphasis on speaking, listening, building vocabulary and developing a sound grammar base, this practical short course will enrich your life. French Beginners 2 is designed to build on language knowledge.

RECOMMENDED FOR This course assumes 15 hours of prior study in French.

REQUIREMENTS Please bring a notepad and pen/pencil.

VOCABULARY - prepositions and adverbs of time to express present, past and future actions and events - ask and give directions - ask and give the time - express your likes and dislikes - how to order a meal - how to ask for items in a shop

GRAMMAR - past tense with 'to be' and 'to have' - future tense - negative form - some irregular verbs - 'partitifs' articles - 'on' - indefinite and definite articles

PRONUNCIATION - reinforcement of the basic elements of pronunciation taught in the first part of the course

CULTURE - more about France - administrative organisation - events - celebrations - public holidays

READING, COMPREHENSION AND WRITING - short texts with some known vocabulary will be read and used as a model for your own writing - you will write short paragraphs using your increased grammatical and lexical knowledge - you will learn to recognise the markers of masculine/feminine/plural in a printed text
