Abstract: This public lecture will consider how the new Smithsonian National Museum Of The American Indian has challenged ideas of Identity and Symbolism in the Making of Place.
Biographical note:
Lynn holds multiple degrees from the University of Colorado, and City University of New York in both design and the social sciences. Prior to joining the faculty at Iowa State she practiced in large multi-disciplinary design firms such as SOM and Gensler Associates. She is a member of the American Indian Council of Architects and Engineers (AICAE) and the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). Her teaching, research, and professional design work focuses on architecture as a cultural practice and on peoples and spaces that are often considered marginal while reflecting an integrative, interdisciplinary, approach.
This lecture is co-presented by the School of Indigenous Studies, The Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Visual Arts, and The Berndt Museum at the University of Western Australia.
