BookCase, a symposium on literature and the law, is a free event, presented by the Law Faculty and the Institute of Advanced Studies.
The speakers are drawn from the judiciary and academia, as well as young lawyers and students. One of the primary aims of the symposium is to showcase some exciting young thinkers, as well as providing an opportunity to hear from those who are established in their fields. Presenters include Justice Hasluck, an author and a judge; Justice French on law and science fiction and Dr Kieran Dolin, an English lecturer with a special interest in literature and the law. A Law Honours student will speak on Lolita, a young lawyer on interpretations of ancient history in the Communist Party case and an English Honours student on legal narrativity.
