PUBLIC LECTURE: UWA Albany Skywest Lecture - Meet the Author, Kim Scott

Kim Scott has written four books. His second novel, Benang, won the 1999 WA Premiers’ Literary Prize, the 2000 Miles Franklin Award, and the 2001 RAKA Kate Challis Award. It has been translated and published in China, France, Holland and India. His first novel, True Country, has also been published in France.
His most recent book, Kayang and Me, was published in 2005. It is an oral-based history of people indigenous to the south coast between Albany and Esperance and was written in collaboration with his Cultural Elder, Hazel Brown.
Kim has had short fiction, poetry, and essays published internationally and has participated in literary tours of Australia, Canada and India. He has worked extensively in education and the arts, particularly in the Indigenous arena, and was awarded a Centenary Medal in 2003.
Kim is a former student of Mt Lockyer Primary and Albany Senior High Schools.
