Opening night, Sunday 5 Feb 2006
The MHF is a non profit organisation which raises funds for visual arts projects. Galliano Fardin is the 10th recipient of this prestigious commission. Dr Richard Read describes in the catalogue: I suspect that over time its (the works) ironic meaning seeps like acid from a battery or rust from an abandoned car into the colours of a ‘ground’ that is both the literal and allegorical subject matter of ‘the earth’ and the optical background of any image from which figures arise. The recognition of a larger menace seems to mingle with the beauty of his figure-on-ground.
Print folios of the commission will be for sale.
