A unique opportunity to hear Bill Farmer, formerly Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, discuss the governments perspective on these highly topical issues.
This is also an opportunity to meet the incoming Australian Ambassador to Indonesia.
Mr Farmer joined the Australian Foreign Service in 1969. From 1984 to 1987, Mr Farmer was Minister in the Australian Mission to the United Nations in New York and was Ambassador to Mexico, the Central American republics and Cuba from 1987 to 1989. From 1993 to 1995, Mr Farmer was High Commissioner for Australia in Papua New Guinea and from 1996-1997, was High Commissioner in Malaysia.
From 1997-1998, Mr Farmer served as Deputy Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
