TURKISH CARPET WEAVING: NATURAL DYES AND THE DOBAG CARPET PROJECT : Two Public Lectures by Dr Harald Bohmer Other events...
Dr Harald Bohmer is the Founder of the DOBAG Project, Head of Natural Dye Lab, Marmara University, Isanbul, and a Biochemist and Author. It is said that no single person has had such a profound impact on carpet weaving.

TURKISH CARPET WEAVING: NATURAL DYES AND THE DOBAG CARPET PROJECT Dr Boehmer will discuss and illustrate how his idea for the reintroduction of natural dyes developed, its scientific basis, how it was introduced into the Anatolian villages, how it created prosperity for villagers without disturbing their way of life, its spead to other countries and the outlook for the future. NOMADS IN ANATOLIA: LASTING IMPRESSIONS OF A VANISHING CULTURE Beginning with a short film of what nomadic life still exists in Anatolia, Dr Harald Bohmer will then take you back to the glorious past of the nomads in Anatolia and their art of kilim weaving.
