PUBLIC TALK: The History and Philosophy of Bioart
|
|
Phil Ross is an artist with work in 'BioDifference:the Political Ecology', an exhibition of biological art at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery until 3 October.
Phil is a visiting lecturer at the San Francisco Art Institute and Stanford University, and has been invited to be an artist in residence at the plant research center of the Carnegie Institute of Washington. In his work Phil manipulates and transforms a variety of living species into sculptures that are at once highly crafted and naturally formed, skillfully manipulated and sloppily organic.
At 12pm, prior to Phil's talk, there will be a guided tour of 'BioDifference', led by three artists with work in the exhibition, Donna Franklin, Cynthia Verspaget and Hans Arkeveld.
'BioDifference: the Political Ecology' is presented as part of the Biennale of Electronic Arts, Perth (BEAP 04).
Admission is free.
