The beauty of Jesus is not a concept. It is an esoteric experience.
"It is beauty that will save the world," said Dostoevsky.
Outside Winthrop Hall a carved message proposes:
"Verily by beauty it is that we come at wisdom." Might we say:
"Verily by the beauty of Jesus it is that we come at his wisdom"?
It is his beauty that will save us and our world.
His story allows us to ask ourselves,
‘What is our direction, our orientation, our commitment?”
The story of his character can call forth our response-ability.
In this forum, eminent Jesuit theologian Professor Gerald O’Collins sj presents some of the fruits of many years of labour on the question of the beauty of Jesus, sometimes in confrontation with other theologians.
You are invited to bring your questions for the journey.
