PUBLIC TALK: Recovering the Past Through Personal Encounters

In the course of her exhibition research, art curator Melissa Harpley interviewed the artists Elise Blumann, Iris Francis and Portia Bennett. In this talk, Melissa will share the experience of meeting and discussing art with these women, and relate the importance of such relationships in the writing of history.
Melissa Harpley is Associate Curator of Historical Art at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.
This talk forms part of the public program for 'Approaches to Modernism: The Art of Portia Bennett, Elise Blumann and Iris Francis 1930s to 1950s' on display at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery until 29 August.
