Dr. Lyn Parker is an anthropologist who has conducted fieldwork in Bali intermittently over 20 years, and is currently working on female adolescent identity and education among the Minangkabau in Sumatra. Lyn is Senior Lecturer, Asian Studies in the School of Social and Cultural Studies at UWA.
This talk is presented in association with the exhibition 'Threading Cultures: Balinese Art and Indonesian Textiles in Western Australian Collections' at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery until 23 June.
A guided tour of the exhibition will be held at 12pm prior to the talk, led by Elizabeth Scott.
All are welcome. Admission is free.
