PUBLIC TALK: Understanding Contemporary Indonesia

Max Lane is Research Fellow at the Asia Research Centre, Murdoch University. Visiting Indonesia frequently, Max has worked with cultural, research and activist groups. He has translated plays of W. R. Rendra and novels by Pramoedya Ananta Toer. He writes for 'Jakarta Post', 'Inside Indonesia' and 'Green Left Weekly'. He has worked for AusAid in Jakarta and has been Principal Research Officer for the Senate Committee of Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade.
This talk is part of a program of events related to the exhibition'Threading Cultures: Balinese Art and Indonesian Textiles in Western Australian Collections' currently on display at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery. There will be a guided tour of the exhibition at 12.00pm prior to Max Lane's talk.
Admission is Free. All welcome.
