Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO asks us, “Who should speak? Who has the appropriate authority? What government action is it right for us to tolerate and to endorse? Why do we allow our government or government agents to dictate the terms of dialogue and the rules for silence and compliance?”
He says that respectful, robust, trusting dialogue is essential in this age of uncertainty. “If distinguished scholars nurtured in the sandstone walls of tradition such as [UWA] do not lead the community by example in such dialogue, where is it to come from?”
Building trust in an age of terror. Participate in this dialogue of public life with Fr Frank Brennan SJ AO, author of many texts on complex and controversial issues of our culture, most recently “Tampering with Asylum.”
