Tibet remained a mysterious and unknown country until 1959 due to its total isolation from the outside world. Discover the ancient history of Tibet from the first king in 127AD and how Buddhism as well as the pre-Buddhist religion Bon, influenced the unique culture of Tibet. The modern history since 1949 and escape of the Dalai Lama and the mass exodus of Tibetan refugees to India in 1959 following the Chinese occupation will also be covered.Rinzin Norden is accredited by the Central Tibetan Administration Department of Religion and Culture in Dharamsala (in exile) and is an Accredited translator and interpreter. From 2000-2003 Rinzin was the representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for East Asia, based in Japan. Tuesdays 6.30-8pm July 1 8 15 22 $113 (UWA Staff Members $108) Bookings essential.
