19:30 - PERFORMANCE - Richard III presented by GRADS : William Shakespeare's classic history Website | More Information
England has been broken by relentless civil strife between the families of Lancaster and victorious York. As the smoke clears, Richard Gloucester, the forgotten youngest York son, unleashes his bloody ambition upon the royal line to seize the Crown. Performed on the world-renowned New Fortune stage, GRADS’ 2023 Summer Shakespeare is one of the Bard’s best known history plays. Richard III, a play legendary for its dark humour and ironic tragedy, is a stark commentary on the motives and manipulations of those who we empower to lead our society. This production reveals a monarchy that is as much Soprano as it is Windsor. Audiences can expect a quick-witted, modern, and high-energy production that captures the imagination and enlightens the verse. The design will blend the excess of the contemporary royal family with the best flourishes of Elizabethan eclecticism.

Shakespeare’s most adored and reviled villain is brought into the instantly recognisable present in this new GRADS production.
