KIDS MUSIC PROGRAM: UWA Music presents: WA Young Percussion Group (WAYPG)
Back for Semester 2 2020, the West Australian Youth Percussion Group (WAYPG) is an exciting program run through the UWA Junior Music School and directed by Perth percussionists Jackson Vickery and Adam Tan. WAYPG aims to provide enthusiastic and talented young percussionists an opportunity to perform in a high-quality ensemble outside of their school environment, bridging the gap between secondary and tertiary education.
The members of WAYPG will rehearse a wide variety of repertoire, including works for marimba ensemble, world percussion and multi percussion, culminating in a public performance at the Percussion All-Stars percussion showcase concert. This biannual performance showcases students of all levels from around Perth in a professional concert environment. WAYPG members will also have opportunities to perform in other public performances around Perth.
WAYPG is currently open to high-school students in years 7-12 with at least one year of percussion tuition. To audition, applicants must send in a short video of them playing (phone video is fine). Returning students are not required to re-audition.
