The horrific story of the 1629 Batavia mutiny and massacre remain difficult to tell. This exhibition follows new discoveries by UWA researchers as part of the ’Shipwrecks of the Roaring Forties’ ARC Project into the wreck of the Dutch ship Batavia and the mutiny, murder, and incredible feats of survival it sparked, as reinterpreted by Paul Uhlmann and Robert Cleworth. Join us for a seminar floor talk detailing the collaboration between the artists, researchers, Lawrence Wilson Gallery and campus partners the Discipline of Archaeology.
