Title: Improving Personality Assessment: Facets, Response Models, and Utility.

Abstract

Personality traits are among the most widely studied individual difference variables in psychological research. Numerous primary and meta-analytic studies have established their importance in educational, health, and employment settings. Most of this research, as well as practical applications, depend fundamentally on the quality of personality measurement. In this talk, I will review some of my past and current studies that 1) clarified the lower-order factor structure, 2) introduced better fitting item response models, and 3) helped to implement personality tests in high-volume, high-stakes personnel selection contexts.
