Hierarchical Information Integration/Integrated Choice Experiments are methods of dealing with large numbers of attributes in a discrete choice experiment. It has been widely applied in the transport literature, and to some extent in health, but there have been no applications in the environmental field. This seminar will present preliminary results from an application of the approach to the management of Morten Bay, Queensland. Attributes of interest include the percentage of different ecosystems that are in marine protected areas, and the quality of the recreational experience, including beach closures, litter and access.
