UWA Albany Public Lecture : Coming to terms: colonial images of King George Sound |
Other events...
|
In the first half of the nineteenth-century the landscape of King George Sound was the site of numerous encounters between Menang Noongar people and European explorers and settlers. Accounts were written, objects both given and taken and images made to capture this new land and tell stories about new lives.
Coming to terms: colonial images of King George Sound will explore the rich visual record of those moments of encounter and exchange; asking whether the images reveal differences between the representation of Aboriginal people and their way of life by artists across and within genres.
