The Faculty of Science orientation program for Honours and Postgraduate students is designed to welcome you to the faculty and provide an opportunity to interact with faculty academic staff and peers, whilst also addressing and developing transferable skills relevant to your studies.
This orientation program involves a series of workshops that focus on networking and collaboration, managing responsibilities and accessing relevant learning resources.
*Networking Workshop - The 'what', 'how' and 'why' of networking*
This workshop is designed to help you recognise the importance of networking, both in person and over the internet, to establish and maintain collaborative relationships during your academic year. You will
also be given the opportunity to identify opportunities that exist in the UWA science community for networking with UWA staff, industry partners, and peers. This workshop will be immediately followed by morning tea, giving you an opportunity to network with course
coordinators, lecturers and peers.
*Survival Strategies workshop - How to stay sane during your studies*
This workshop will assist you to develop personalised strategies to effectively manage the various responsibilities typically faced by Postgraduate and Honours students, including family, work, study and
personal commitments.
*Library resources*
The Barry J Marshall librarians will show you all the most important resources relevant to your studies and how to access them. You will use the online systems so that you can hit the ground running as soon as you start. You will have a guided tour of the BJM library which will focus on those areas directly relevant to Postgraduate/Honours students.
