Ensemble Vagabond represents Australia’s newest chamber music ensemble of national profile, performing at the highest international level. As an ensemble-in-residence at the University of Western Australia School of Music, Ensemble Vagabond delivers a vibrant artistic program encompassing performances, workshops, commissions, education and recording projects. Most recently the group was involved as concertante soloists with the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra (December 2015), and in various performances during the Chamber Music Weekend for the Perth International Arts Festival (2016). Ensemble Vagabond brings together five of Australia’s young musicians - Emily Clements (flute), Liz Chee (oboe), Ashley Smith (clarinet), Adam Mikulicz (bassoon) and Julia Brooke (horn).
Together with UWA Choral Society conductor Christopher van Tuinen, these musicians will discuss the inspiration, the
motivation and the challenges facing contemporary musicians
in the current economic and artistic climate. They will also
share their love of chamber music with short excerpts from some of their favourite repertoire.
