The Perth USAsia Centre in collaboration with the Australian American Leadership Dialogue are delighted to invite you to participate in our Ambassadors' Dialogue with Ambassador Cynthia P. Schneider and the former Ambassador to the U.S., The Hon. Kim Beazley on Wednesday, 11 May from 9.30am – (Light morning Tea), 10.00am – 11.30am for a moderated dicussion and Q&A. Cultural diplomacy is trending as a key tool in the21st century public diplomacy toolbox. It’s a preeminent example of soft power and the ability to persuade through culture, values and ideas as opposed to hard power which coerces through military might or economic sanctions. Artists and cultural leaders are increasingly being viewed as the “canaries in the coal mine,” the harbingers of political and social change and the bulwarks against extremism. So, how do cultural initiatives promote democracy, tolerance and minority rights? Out of the box thinker and global expert on cultural diplomacy, U.S. Ambassador Cynthia P. Schneider, is the 2016 Australian American Leadership Dialogue Scholar and will be available to answer these questions as part of the Leadership Dialogue Australian Roadshow. The Leadership Dialogue Scholar Roadshow was introduced to provide international and objective perspectives on key topics facing the alliance. The Hon.
