Those interested in economic renewal must move beyond strict employment relations matters and reconsider the Australian approach to education and economic development. Drawing on a large-scale research project, this presentation will debate the link between education and economic renewal, in particular the role of vocational education and social partnerships within this mosaic. It is argued that we need to revitalise the concept of vocational education as a guiding concern of labour market and educational research, policy and practice if individuals and the economy are to flourish in the future.
