Located just on Perth's doorstep, Rottnest Island provides important evidence of Late Quaternary human presence on the emergent continental shelf of southwestern Australia. This presentation will summarise the geomorphological context and latest chronological analyses of prehistoric archaeological find sites found by Charlie Dortch on Rottnest Island. Although finds are rare, the potential for similar isolated prehistoric finds extends to palaeosol units in the Tamala Limestone elsewhere in the Perth Basin and Leeuwin Block.
