Nobel Laureate Professor Elizabeth H. Blackburn is a leader in the area of telomere and telomerase research. She discovered the molecular nature of telomeres - the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes that serve as protective caps essential for preserving the genetic information - and the ribonucleoprotein enzyme, telomerase. In this lecture, Professor Blackburn will discuss which forms of interventions can be effective in telomere preservation, and to what degree this will be protective of health, especially during human aging.
This lecture is presented by the Lions Eye Institute and the UWA Institute of Advanced Studies and honours the work of Professor Ian Constable.
