This half day course provides an overview of strategies and suggestions on how to best deal with mental health issues that may arise in the workplace. Participants will learn about their obligations and be provided with practical strategies to respond to mental health issues at work. Information will also be provided on the supports available within UWA.
The course is recommended for managers and supervisors.
You will
recognise the symptoms and functional impact of the common mental illnesses in the workplace,
be aware of their roles and responsibilities when responding to mental health issues in the workplace,
learn strategies to approach and address staff with mental health issues,
learn about resources available to assist Managers and Supervisors to support employees with mental illness (at UWA and beyond),
learn about how to develop reasonable workplace accommodations for mental illness.
