Title: Experiencing New Courses
Dates: Monday 7th May – Friday 18th May 2012
Teaching and Learning Month is all about discovering, discussing, pursuing, celebrating and valuing excellence in teaching and learning. From showcasing innovative approaches and methods to focusing on the finer points of tested-by-time pedagogical tools, Teaching and Learning Month encourages UWA staff and students to get thinking about and, most importantly, get talking about teaching and learning issues, ideas and practices and the student learning experience. Teaching and Learning Month 2012 will focus on the theme of ‘Experiencing New Courses’ giving staff and students the opportunity to reflect on their experience in the first few months of New Courses – perhaps thinking about how the new undergraduate degree structure has changed first year teaching, how transition is working, what the effect is on staff teaching practices, and whether the first year experience has been enhanced.
A series of events will be held around this theme – information will become available on this website in the coming months
University Teaching Awards Ceremony
The 2012 UWA Teaching Awards Ceremony is planned for Wednesday 9th May, 6pm-8:30pm, University Club Banquet Hall (includes a cocktail reception).
All members of the University community are invited to attend the ceremony, which recognises the University’s achievements in teaching and learning and rewards our outstanding teachers and teaching support staff. The ceremony includes the university-wide announcement of Faculty teaching award winners, the announcement of the University Excellence in Teaching Awards and the University’s nominees for national teaching awards. The ceremony also includes the annual Vice-Chancellors Invitational Lecture.
Teaching and Learning Research Colloquium
The 2012 Teaching & Learning Research Colloquium will be held on Thursday 17th May 2012 8.45am – 5pm, University Club.
The colloquium is intended to give UWA staff the opportunity to share and disseminate the important work they are doing in teaching and learning research and scholarship with their peers. A call for Expressions of interest to present at the colloquium will be sent out soon, and more information will be available on the CATL website.
