This year's United Nations Association of Australia (WA) Human Rights Day Address will be given by The Honourable Robert Hill BA LLB LLM.
The Honorable Robert Hill was a member of the Australian Senate from 1981 to 2006, representing South Australia and was Leader of the Government in the Senate from March 1996 until his resignation in January 2006. Professor Hill was appointed Australian Ambassador to the United Nations for Australia in April 2006 and served in that position until May 2009.
Professor Hill is currently Adjunct Professor in Sustainability with the United States Studies Centre at The University of Sydney. He is involved there in the development of the $2 million Dow Sustainability Program to bring together academic and policy experts from Australia and the US to develop action-oriented solutions to a range of sustainability challenges concerning energy, water, food and biodiversity.
In April 2010, he was appointed Chancellor of Adelaide University for a two year term.
He is chairman of the Australian Carbon Trust and is also a board member of the recently launched University of Queensland think-tank, the Global Change Institute.
This lecture is free and open to the public, no RSVP necessary.
