Centre for Land Rehabilitation Seminar - All Welcome.
Abstract:
This presentation summarizes studies conducted by the soil physics group at UWA focussing on how the climate and weather signal can be used to quantify the statistical properties of ecohydrological processes, such triggers of preferential flow and surface runoff in sparsely vegetated landscapes. Recent studies have focussed on how roots affect soil properties and how this in turn controls dynamic patterns of vegetation in water limited environments. A simple feedback model will be presented that may explain why vegetation may exhibit temporal oscillations.
