Michael Borowitzka is Professor of Phycology at Murdoch University and the head of the Algae R & D Center. Michael has worked for over 30 years on the commercial cultivation of microalgae using both open pond and closed photobioreactor systems. He was one of the team which developed the Dunaliella salina plant at Hutt Lagoon, Western Australia, which is the largest microalgae production plant in the world. Michael currently heads a large study funded by the Commonwealth on the production of biofuels from saline microalgae with the construction of a pilot plant in the Pilbara expected to commence in 2010. Matt is part of the internationally renown team of researchers working on plant energy under Federation Fellow Steven Smith. We hope you will join us for presentations, discussions and some networking over drinks and nibbles.
